Whispers of Silk, 2024

Yarn on faux fur, hair rings, lace fabric

This piece explores a narrative of self-discovery through time. Three figures are juxtaposed, mirroring past, present, and future versions of myself. The past version lies vulnerable on the ground within the opening of bamboo earrings, symbolizing how I could never fully grasp my femininity. The present and future figures, guns in hand, murder this past self. They stand aligned outside the symbol for femininity, alluding to my embrace of queerness, a perspective that lets me see and feel beyond the present's constraints. At the center, a spider interconnects all these figures, representing the different paths and realities available to my future self. Three stars positioned between the figures and the spider serve as navigation points. This tapestry becomes a roadmap, guiding me toward a future my past self never thought possible.
