Vestiges - Equine is part of a series that consists of objects from the past that I found in a rural area of upstate New York. These included agricultural tools and other objects that are vanishing from the world. Vestiges - Equine was molded/cast using recycled paper from a horseshoe and gives the piece its dimensional relief. A horse is depicted running in a green field framed by the horseshoe. The work represents the disappearance, loss of animals from the countryside and our contemporary lives due to technological change and human overdevelopment.
