Study in Modern Exodus; This piece is a conceptual excavation of the feminine ideal. I began this piece by mentally demolishing centuries of art-historical baggage. If Aphrodite were to walk into today's social landscape, she likely wouldn't be looking for a seashell; she'd be looking for an exit. To find her, I stripped away the preconceptions of religion, culture, and race to see what remains when a woman is finally free from the frame. In a departure from historical depictions that often prioritize the physique, I focused on the mental attributes of a modern deity. This Venus is a consequence of strength, fearlessness, and the confidence to dive back into the uncharted waters from which she originally arose. She represents the moment the goddess realizes she is her own catalyst for movement.
