The Threshold is an ongoing series that was born from Leah's time at the Orein Arts Residency last summer. Departing from a deliberate symbolic language from her existing body of work, and shifting toward an intuitive lexicon, she found herself coming back to the void: a place where beginning and the final destination collide. The circle became contemplated upon as an anchor of sorts, as it represents both a shape, as well as a path. The Threshold, III is a culmination point. The dynamic light and movement which fill the page gather toward a liminal space in the center of the image plane, suggesting the final moments of a transformation, crystalizing into new form.
