The Salon #3 is a dedication to my mother's living room salon, which she (pictured) opened after migrating to the US. Through this salon, my mother adopted sisters and exchanged diasporic knowledge. This image, inspired by the Yoruban deity,  honors the body, tools, and ritual that inform the salon and the many migrant Black women who used hair to carve paths to freedom. The second viewer is idolizing her, as I did during my childhood. In this world, Black women are deities, celebrated for their creativity and honored for their perseverance.
