"Men I Don't Hate" is a portrait series about looking‚ how my closest relationships have formed inside systems they did not invent. I use paint and photo transfers as windows into memories, documenting my own desires and views. I pull images from photographs I take in motion and re-use them within the painting to insert my view onto the surface. After six weeks of traveling through Spain without painting, I returned to make this portrait of my partner sitting, about to go to the city with me, knowing that whatever comes next, the night is ours.
