Stage Dive is oil-painted in my signature ‚hypherealist‚ style and process. The image shifts with the viewers' focus, revealing more with each viewing, flickering with possibility when gazed upon like a hearth fire. I'm forever inspired by the geometry of the classic slam-dancing pit that runs like clockwork vs chaotic moshing. Here everyone helps each other along within a high-stakes swirl of centrifugal inertia, representing a raw power and unity unmatched in everyday experience. It's an homage to my long-ago Minneapolis punk roots and the legendary venue First Avenue / 7th street entry where I saw every live band imaginable in my formative years, learning to hold my own in the pit; a strong girl in a sea of testosterone joyfully crowd surfing with respect and protective masculinity. Subsequent years of working with bands in LA and my long-time home of NYC lends to the humor in the narrative.
