In this self portrait, I imagine myself as a witch in the midst of a transformation. In certain folkloric traditions, including that of Ireland, witches were thought to have the ability to transform into hares, which themselves can symbolize fertility and sensuality. In front of the full moon, an image that can evoke madness, the supernatural, and the divine feminine, I raise my hands in a gesture suggestive of religious supplication and begin my transformation. My expression is defiant; I display my body without shame.
