Resting Pulse, 2025
Ceramic, Raku Fired
9.5x7x3.25 inches
Resting Pulse transforms a mold of my face into the anatomy of a heart, merging portraiture and physiology to explore the quiet moments that sustain life. Eyes closed and lips softened, the self portrait rests in a state of inward reflection, a pause amid a world saturated with distraction, a collective unrest. Hand-built in clay and Raku fired, its surface carries subtle shifts of metallic copper luster and the smokey drama, marking transformation rather than destruction. Unlike its stitched counterpart, this piece embraces stillness as strength. Resting Pulse honors vulnerability, empathy, and the quiet endurance of the body, inviting viewers to slow down, listen, and feel the calm heartbeat that carries the weight.
