Rest is from my "In the Clearing" group of paintings. I did these paintings to express feelings of disorientation I had about retiring from my design job of 30 years. In the clearing we can see persons, animals, and things in a place that is between psychological homes or places of stability. This fertile ground is the place where inspiration can be found if it is recognized. The paintings in the series are oil on canvas panels and on found masonite panels. I alternate between series of figurative and abstract work, always with a strong emphasis on color.
