Resist, 2018

Red ink on Bristol board

11 x 14 inches

Resist is a monoprint of a vintage corset, created by rolling red ink onto the garment, transferring it onto white Bristol board, and running it through a roller press. It speaks to the ongoing struggle against systemic gender inequality, the erosion of bodily autonomy, and the persistent backlash that frames feminism as a threat to social order. By reclaiming these garments through printmaking‚ by staining them, pressing them, and fixing their absence onto paper‚  assert refusal. Refusal to be shaped by violence disguised as tradition. Refusal to accept constraint as virtue. Refusal to remain quiet under pressure.
