A. Elaine
Skipper Quaker Meeting, 2025
Archival Pigment Print9 x 13.5 inches
The work depicts a rusted utility box littered with traditional graffiti and a sticker reading "NO FUN." It reminded me of the old Quaker Meeting nursery rhyme, creating an interesting dichotomy between old and new, illustrating how graffiti has evolved in the world of art. Traditional forms of graffiti are alive and well, with spray paint cans and paint markers maintaining their power on public spaces, representing release and self-expression. The sticker itself shares an interesting metaphor about condemning something it is actively taking part in.
