Joy Seekers helped me examine both the beauty and the absurdity of thrill-seeking as it courses through my own family, american culture, and percolates globally. The resulting work is a carnivalesque mix, not unlike an 'exquisite corpse', illustrating how our similarities ripple seamlessly across unexpected terrain. We all strive to find joy, though we may differ in what we reach for and how we aim to get there. Perhaps if we recognize this simple drive in each other, regardless of the diversity of our strange and delightful quests, we can glimpse our shared humanity and find our way.
