In the noise and speed of the New York subway, I noticed a mother and daughter wrapped in a small, tender world of their own. Though we are of different races, I felt a deep kinship ‚the gestures of care and protection are universal. I painted them from behind to turn away from spectacle and toward stillness, a quiet defiance within the city's relentless motion. Even as the world accelerates around them, their connection endures ‚ an intimate, timeless act of love that transcends difference.
