Gigi, 2018

Oil on panel

12x12 inches

Gigi is from my series of small paintings titled Boudoir. The term derives from the French verb ‚bouder, meaning ‚ to sulk‚ or ‚to pout.Originally, a boudoir referred to a woman's private sitting room or bedroom, a space where she could withdraw to brood in privacy, put away so as not to affect the mood of others. Over time, it evolved into a symbol of eroticism, allure, self-expression, and empowerment. In this painting, she presents desire, self-possession, and the complexity of the feminine psyche. Her exploration of intimacy is an act of resistance and transformation.
