The painting ‚Decreation, is part of an ongoing series examining identity and motherhood, explores transition through a process of undoing and unraveling the creature within. Here, the path of destruction is used as a means of internal subversion: shifting power dynamics to reach for something more fundamental. The work engages primal instincts to dismantle the constructed self. Layers of thick paint are applied with a silicone tool then smeared, slashed, and scraped away, emphasizing a process of erasure and becoming. The resulting composition evokes an otherworldly space, where bodily experience opens onto a broader, cosmic register.
