There Are Communists in the Fun House is a Danish euphemism for menstruation, a deliberately absurd phrase used to sanitize and deflect discussion of a shared bodily experience. The work embraces excess rather than concealment, using loud color and scale to reject the quiet shame often imposed on menstruating bodies. By employing cross stitch, a craft often associated with genteel compliance, the work insists on visibility, humor and defiance, transforming the craft into an act of rebellion.
