Collage Faces is a surrealist portrait of a woman in existential limbo. Three iterations of her face, each containing a distinct expression with distorted features, blend into a single misshapen head. This general composition is the defining feature of Sridhar's Strange Mirror series, which she began in 2023 to visualize her confusing experiences with dissociation and depersonalization. Over time, the series evolved into a practice of observing her subconscious self through painting portraits of herself and her friends. Collage Faces, made one year into the series, marks a stylistic shift with its introduction of sharp edges and cut-paste image distortions.
