When I was grieving the death of my brother, I painted this to remind myself of who I am. I sought inspiration from the Hindu goddess Kali, the Destroyer of Illusions. For me, this painting represents a woman's spirit rising from the ashes of grief to reclaim her identity and her power, and using that to light to guide herself out of the darkness.
