These three drawings are 11x14 works on paper made with ink and colored pencil. I've re-made the illustrations of outfits from sewing patterns from the 1970s. The ladies' heads are replaced with bird heads. Comparing women to animals has become so commonplace in contemporary life that I stopped thinking about it until I really started thinking about it. Women are chicks, or dogs if they are ugly, foxy if they are cute, whales or elephants if they are fat. Moms are eagle-eyed, watching their children like hawks. Bird-brained, mama bear, tiger mothers, anything to remove our humanity.
