About the Event
Join us as we close out the 6th edition of the Every Woman Biennial with the second installment of our new media performance program. The evening brings together three distinct voices in contemporary performance art. Together, their works offer a sophisticated exploration of the interplay between the physical and digital, the personal and collective, and the rational and absurd.
Nanae Itoi’sSelf Poppers examines self-reflection through playful absurdity, using interactive technology to create a dynamic dialogue between the dancer’s movements and real-time visual and audio responses. Itoi, a Japanese mixed-media artist, merges traditional practices like sumi-e painting with cutting-edge technologies to explore impermanence and transformation.
Nina Sobell’s GammaTime in R Verse transforms brainwave activity into tangible art and sound, offering participants a unique opportunity to experience their inner states and shared connections through mixed reality. Sobell, a pioneer in integrating EEG technology into art, has spent decades investigating the boundaries of communication and consciousness.
Naz Karagöz’s Mind Simulator combines projection mapping, live sound processing, Turkish improvisational singing, and AI-generated videos to investigate themes of alienation, culture, and the mechanics of perception. Karagöz, a multidisciplinary artist, uses technology to create simulations that challenge perceptions of reality and identity.
