Who We Are
A 125-year-old non-profit fighting for gender equity in the arts.
We've supported solely women artists and writers since 1894.
What We Do
Pen and Brush provides a platform to showcase the work of female artists and writers to a broader audience with the ultimate goal of effecting real change within the marketplace. We encourage and mentor emerging professionals and aim to expose the stereotypes and misconceptions that perpetuate gender-based exclusion.
Our exhibition programing bolsters the careers of thought-shifting contemporary women artists whose work expresses the consciousness of a moment and offers unique, and often challenging, viewpoints of today.
Our publishing imprint champions high-quality literary fiction and poetry from an unmistakably female perspective. We publish emerging original voices of all backgrounds, with an eye for the experimental and unconventional.
Advocacy and Mentorship
Pen + Brush provides a platform to showcase the work of female artists and writers to a broader audience. The organization mentors and fosters emerging voices. It's ultimate goal is to dismantle
stereotypes and misconceptions that perpetuate the gender-based exclusion, lack of recognition, and devaluation of skill experienced by women in the arts.
"Until it's just about the art."
